Sri Lankan Spices

Spices have been part of different cuisines and have become a big attraction for individuals around the world. Different religions and cultures have clubbed the spices, whether because of trade or because of taste. People from all over the world travel to various parts of the globe to experience and taste various cuisines from different countries. Spices are a dish/most delicacy’s popular and essential ingredient. They are all very significant in our daily routine use, whether it is Black Pepper, Cumin, red chilli or turmeric, etc., as these spices are abundantly rich in antioxidants and essential oils of various compounds that help to boost digestion and prevent us from various diseases. The antioxidants in spices avoid, by forming a compound and then expelling them out of the body, the accumulation of free radicals produced in our body after metabolism. Spices promote digestion of food’s that are hard to break down.

And last but not least, the spices enhance the colour, taste and finally the taste of any food that makes it extremely attractive, nutritious and palatable. Spices have a preservative effect and this property has been used for centuries to preserve food in the form of pickles and prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi in a product and improve the shelf life in return. They have a fat cutting action which aids in weight loss They also strengthen the immune system of the body thus keeping it healthy.
